The classical university as a base of national research university
Abstract: The role of the classical universities as the base for national research universities is discussed using the example of the State University of Nizhny Novgorod. The authors analyses the integration process of university with academic institutes and industry, and the influence of formal accredited activities in university. Some criteria of selection of national research universities are represented.
